Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the average mathematical problem solving ability of students who use the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) learning model with those using conventional learning in class VIII odd semester students of UPT SMP Negeri 13 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2022/ 2023. This research is an experimental study with a population of all students of class VIII UPT SMP Negeri 13 Bandar Lampung. The samples used in this study were two classes, namely class VIII-4 as the experimental class and VIII-3 as the control class which both amounted to 31 students. The sample of this study was taken using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. The instrument in this study used an essay test of 5 items which were first tested for validity and reliability. After the results of the data are normal and homogeneous, it is obtained t_hit = 4.04 from the distribution table at the 5% level, it is known that t_daf = 1.67. It is shown by the results of hypothesis testin where the value of t_hit = 4.04 > t_daf = 1.67 which means that the average acquisition of students' mathematical problem solving abilities using the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) model is 83.29 higher than the average mathematical problem solving ability using conventional learning models is 67.82. So it can be concluded that "there is an effect of the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of eighth grade students of UPT SMP Negeri 13 Bandar Lampung in the 2022/2023 academic year".
