Abstract

This research is motivated by the tendency of the teacher-centered science learning process for fourth graders of SD Negeri 4 Sidomukti which has an impact on a lack of understanding of the subject matter and a lack of interaction between teachers and students, and the not yet optimal use of concrete object learning media in class resulting in student learning outcomes decreased or low. This study aims to describe the use of concrete object media in improving science learning outcomes in fourth grade students of SD Negeri 4 Sidomukti. This study uses descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods in the form of PTK. The research subjects were fourth grade students with 15 students. Collection techniques and research instruments, namely by using observation, interviews, written tests and documentation of the data were analyzed and reflected. This study consisted of two cycles before carrying out cycle I, namely by carrying out pre-cycle activities while the findings on pre-cycle activities obtained an average of 67.33, cycle I obtained an average of 76.66, cycle II obtained an average of 77.66 the percentage of learning outcomes in pre-cycle is 40%, cycle I is 66.66%, cycle II is 80%, so it is categorized as very good. Student activity increased in each cycle, cycle I the percentage of student activity was 75% categorized as good and cycle II obtained a percentage of 84.37%, so it was categorized as very good. From the data obtained, it shows that the use of concrete object learning media can improve the learning outcomes of fourth grade students in science learning.
