IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH FLASHCARD AT SD Xaverius 1 BANDAR LAMPUNG

This research was aimed to improve the students’ learning activities and the students’ vocabulary mastery through flashcard at the fifth class of SD Xaverius 1 Bandar Lampung in 2021/2022. The subjects of the research consisted of twenty three students 13 male students and 10 female students. This research was conducted by using classroom action research. It consisted of two cycles. There were four steps in each cycle of the research; planning, acting, observing and reflecting. For the data collecting technique, the writer used observation and test. The test was multiple choice test consisted of 40 questions, to get the score of students’ vocabulary mastery. This research focused on improving the students’ learning activities and the students’ vocabulary mastery. The improvement of the students ‘ learning activities could be seen from the average score of the students’ learning activities of cycle I was 6.78 with the criteria was bad, while the second cycle was 8.60 with the criteria between good andalmost very good. So the improvement of the students’ learning activities during the first cycle to the second cycle reached 1.82 point. This students’ learning activities improvement influenced the students’ learning result, where the mean score of cycle I 59,43, there were 4 students or 17% who passed the target. Meanwhile, the mean score of cycle II was 69.08, there were 17 students or 74% who passedthe target. So the improvement of students’ learning result during the first cycle to the second cycle reached 9.65 points. It means that Flashcard can improve the students’ learning activities and the students’ learning result in mastery of vocabulary of the fifth class students of SD Xaverius 1 Bandar Lampung in 2021/2022.
