THE INFLUENCE OF USING FIX UP STRATEGY TOWARDS STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION AT EIGHTH GRADE OF SMP IT TUNAS INSAN CENDEKIA LAMPUNG SELATAN IN 2021/2022

Abstract

This research aimed to know the influence of using Fix Up strategy towards students’ reading comprehension. The writer used the quasi experimental method as the research design. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP IT Tunas Insan Cendekia. In taking the sample, the writer used random sampling. The writer utilizer a multiple-choice test to measure the students’ reading comprehension when collecting data. The writer utilized the sample ttest formula to analyze the data. The students who were taught using the Fix Up Strategy scored higher than those who were taught using the Direct Instruction, according to the data analysis. The average score of the experimental class was higher than the control class, according to the hypothesis testing calculation. The average score of the students’ reading comprehension of experimental class is higher (74.43) than the score of control class (65.71). To analyze the data, the writer used paired sample t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, the writer got the result that Ha was accepted. It was obtained that ttest = 3.37, ttable  for α= 0.05 was 1.68 and for α= 0.01 was 2.42 (3.37 > 1.68 < 2.42). So, Ha was accepted. It means that ttest > ttable, it can be said that there is an influence of using Fix Up strategy towards students’ reading comprehension at eighth grade of SMP IT Tunas Insan Cendekia Lampung Selatan in 2021/2022.
